“Our Antiquities, conceived as an annual organ of the Institute in Sarajevo, aims to inform all scientific institutions and scientific workers involved in these and similar activities about the actions and results of the protection and study of cultural monuments in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and to exchange experiences with them. It also aims to inform all other scientific, cultural-historical and other public workers, national government bodies and organisations and institutions that are interested in and concerned with this work, and through them, our working masses, about the entire work of the Institute, so that they can monitor, control and assist the protection bodies in their work.”

This quote is part of the Editorial Board’s introductory statement published in the first issue of the annual “Our Antiquities” from 1953. In this way and with this quote, we can also begin the publication of the first issue of the same publication in electronic form on the website of the Federal Ministry of Culture and Sports – Institute for the Protection of Monuments.

We hope that the electronic publication of “Our Antiquities” will contribute to an easier presentation of the state of cultural heritage monuments as well as to a faster creation of conditions for the gathering of all responsible and interested factors in the important and noble work of protecting the cultural and historical heritage of BiH.
