Minister Vlaisavljević welcomed Dora and her coach David Marušić, and congratulated her on behalf of the entire Ministry and her personal behalf on the exceptional success – the biggest so far for Dora and her Club and the best result for Bosnia and Herzegovina at the European Club Championship in Tirana.
Dora presented to the Minister her journey from the first taekwondo training at the age of less than seven years to the title of multiple state and federal champion, best state junior and senior player, member of the junior national team, vice-champion of the Balkans in 2019, champion of the Balkans in 2023, best cadet sportswoman of the City of Mostar, winner of numerous medals at international and European level, including silver medal at the European Universiade, and also silver medal at the European Club Championship, and finally the gold medal at this year’s European Club Championship. She emphasized that in addition to her many obligations in the world of sports, she did not neglect her University obligations either. Namely, she is a successful student of Criminology and Security Management in Mostar, where she was awarded the Rector’s Prize for Sports in 2022.
“Playing sports in our country is extremely challenging, particularly because playing sports professionally requires a lot of financial support from parents and the club. My parents were taking my brother and me to training from Mostar to Sarajevo almost every day. The whole family made a great sacrifice so that my brother, who is my coach, and I would be where we are today”, concluded Marušić, and thanked Minister Vlaisavljević and the Federal Ministry of Culture and Sports for being the only institution that gave them a reception on the occasion of winning the title of European champion.
