Minister Sanja Vlaisavljević met on 6 February 2024 with representatives of the Publishers’ Community in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The meeting was attended by the Community Chairman, Ajet Arifi (IK Connectum d.o.o. Sarajevo), Chairman of the Assembly, Dragan Marković (IK University Press d.o.o. Sarajevo), Members of the Management Board, Ajdin Šahinpašić (Malik Books d.o.o., Sarajevo), Muamer Spahić (IK Vrijeme Zenica) and Damir Uzunović (Buybook d.o.o.). On behalf of the Ministry, the meeting was attended by Tidža Mekić, expert advisor for publishing, art, libraries and archives.
The purpose of the meeting, as stated by the representatives of the Community, was “their ambition to restore the dignity of both the authors and the books, as well as to preserve the publishing sector in BiH in order to prevent cessation of its operations that would have enormous consequences on the entire cultural and educational sector in Bosnia and Herzegovina”.
At the beginning of the meeting, the attendees discussed the work of the Publishing Foundation and the Foundation for Library Activities, as well as the possibilities of improving and developing their work, with the aim of strengthening the publishing sector in BiH.
Minister Vlaisavljević welcomed the representatives of the Publishers’ Community to the Ministry. She pointed out that she welcomed the idea of improving cooperation with the two aforementioned foundations, so that all proposals on changes and amendments to the Funding Criteria were welcome, in which manner, the Ministry, foundations and the Publishers’ Community could work together to create a more useful model for foundations’ functioning to everyone’s satisfaction.
