Minister Vlaisavljević closes 63rd Šimić Meetings

The 63rd Šimić Meetings, one of the most important cultural and literary events, which this year brought together numerous writers, artists, students and lovers of the written word, were concluded with a ceremonial academy held in Peć Mlini.

In her address, the minister emphasized that the word of A. B. Šimić emerged from the stone, karst and silence of the Herzegovinan landscape, a space that shapes authentic art. She emphasized that it has always been a matter of prestige to know Šimić’s verses because they remain part of cultural identity.

She also added that, although the Meetings are formally closing, the memory of Šimić will last as long as there are those who love, want, listen to and read beautiful words, words that primarily contain truth.

Finally, as part of this ceremony, awards were also given to young poets and visual artists, as well as the annual “Antun Branko Šimić” award of the Society of Croatian Writers of Herceg-Bosnia.
