On 31 July 2026, an inspection was made of the current state of the Bijača necropolis, located between the villages of Staje and Galići in the area of ​​the City of Ljubuški. This necropolis represents a very important site of cultural and historical heritage, is a national monument of Bosnia and Herzegovina and is included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. It is located along the Ljubuški-Vid road and has a total of 33 stećkas. The tombstones are well processed and preserved, and they are placed in the northwest-southeast direction. The most numerous motifs are: bent vines with trefoils, crosses and shields with swords and ribbons, arcades, representations of individual human figures and scenes of chariots and hunting. Access to the necropolis is difficult and unmarked, and the necropolis itself is at risk due to its close proximity to the road.

The goal of the monitoring was to determine the current state of the necropolis and identify possible risks.
