The Federal Ministry of Culture and Sports marked the beginning of the European Week of Sport

The Federal Ministry of Culture and Sports has marked today the beginning of the European Week of Sport, which is traditionally organised throughout the world in the week from 23 to 30 September.

Athletes from all over Bosnia and Herzegovina gathered today in front of the Federal Ministry of Culture and Sports and sent a message about the importance of sports and practicing, with the ultimate goal to promote sports and physical activity under the slogan “Be Active”.

“It truly makes me happy to stand today with you here, in front of the Federal Ministry of Culture and Sports to celebrate another Week of Sport, in order to bring us closer to the world family that celebrates sports. What is sport, but an example of the good, beautiful, and healthy? In the past times, the wars were stopped for the Olympic Games to be held. Sport has this connecting quality, and these young people here should teach us to love and be into sports even more.”

Adnan Džindo, Assistant Minister for Sports, pointed out that the Federal Ministry of Culture and Sports decided to organise this celebration one day before the official beginning of the European Week of Sport with the aim of focusing on the athletes and the messages they want to send because, as he pointed out, “we are here for them”.

The Taekwondo Olympic medallist, Nedžad Husić, addressed the guests after minister Vlaisavljević and Assistant Minister Džindo: “My message to you, young athletes and all people, is to give your maximum in everything you do and to be persistent. Sometimes you won’t get the results you want, but you certainly won’t be at a loss. You will get a new life!”

Tamara Češić from the Volleyball Club “Centar Ort” said: “I hope that you who have kids will raise them to play sports, because that is the right path.”

“Leave the cell phones and tablets, start doing sports! The European Week of Sport is a perfect moment to start doing so,” concluded the youngest participant of today’s event, seven-year-old Nasiha Pilavdžić, a member of the “Olimpik” Ski Club.

Members of the “Sarajevo” Shooting Club and the “Ippon” Karate Club also took part in today’s programme.

The great “Rudarska Glazba” band from Kakanj excelled in the musical part of the programme, and really impressed the attendants with their performance.

This was an opportunity for the Federal Ministry of Culture and Sports to join millions of sports professionals, enthusiasts, experts and associations from all over Europe in marking the European Week of Sport, along with numerous BiH athletes, and to send motivational messages.
