IMPLEMENTATION OF THE ACTION PLAN FOR 2026: VISIT TO THE YOUTH CHESS CLUB ŽIVINICE

On September 24, 2026, Hanadin Basarić, representative of the Youth Sector of the Federal Ministry of Culture and Sports, visited the Youth Chess Club Živinice with the aim of monitoring the implementation of the project “19th Chess Hopes Tournament of Bosnia and Herzegovina.”

At the time of the visit, preparations and organizational activities for the tournament were underway at the Youth Chess Club Živinice. The tournament is scheduled to take place on November 28–29, 2026. The activities are focused on organizational and technical arrangements, as well as on determining participants and other elements necessary for its successful execution. The tournament is envisioned as an opportunity to bring together promising young chess players and to provide a platform for competitive and social exchange.

According to the organizers’ plan, a total of 24 young chess players who secured first and second place at the 26th Cadet and Youth Chess Championship of Bosnia and Herzegovina in 2026 will take part in the tournament. In addition, 12 more young players will be invited by the organizers to participate. In this way, the aim is to gather a larger number of talented young chess players, enabling them to compete, share experiences, and build new connections.

In discussions with the president of the Youth Chess Club Živinice, it was emphasized that the primary goal of the project is to enhance youth engagement in chess and further promote chess as a socially valuable sport. Through the organization of the tournament, young competitors are offered additional support in their sporting development, while also creating a meaningful space for socializing, exchanging experiences, and connecting with peers engaged in chess.

The project holds particular importance as it provides young chess players with the opportunity to test their knowledge and skills against other promising competitors. Beyond the development of chess abilities, participation in such events contributes to building concentration, patience, responsibility, analytical thinking, and decision-making skills—competencies that extend beyond the sport itself.

By organizing the tournament, the Club also seeks to encourage more active participation of youth in society, fostering connections and new contacts through sport. Bringing together young chess players from different communities creates opportunities for experience-sharing and strengthening cooperation, while promoting chess as a meaningful and enriching way for young people to spend their free time.

This visit forms part of the activities aimed at monitoring the implementation of projects supported by funds allocated for youth, with the goal of ensuring transparency, responsible use of resources, and insight into the results achieved by the supported initiatives.
