Ismail Barlov, a competitor of the SPID Swimming Club from Sarajevo, won a golden medal in the senior A final in the 50-meter breaststroke event at the meeting of the World Para-swimming Series in Egypt.
“Ismail, the Olympic Games are smiling at you. You do your job better than the best, and now, we must follow your spirit and be your strength and wind at your back”, Minister Sanja Vlaisavljević told our Ismail after the great result.
His club colleague from the national team, Ismail Zulfić, managed to make it to the junior finals and finished the performance in the sixth place.
Competitors from Bosnia and Herzegovina also excelled on the first day of the competition in Cairo. Ismail Barlov won a silver medal in the senior and a golden medal in the junior competition in the 150-meter medley with a national record and confirmed second A norm for the Paralympic Games in Paris in 2024.
Ismail Zulfić competed in the 200-meter medley and swam a time worthy of a silver medal in the junior competition and a new state record (3:51:61). He also performed in the A final for seniors and was fourth.
