Conference titled “Commitment to the Implementation of the Strategy for the Prevention and Combating of Domestic Violence 2024-2027”

The Gender Center of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina organised in Sarajevo an extremely important conference under the title “Commitment to the Implementation of the Strategy for the Prevention and Combating of Domestic Violence 2024-2027”.

This significant event brought together numerous representatives of key institutions, civil society organizations, as well as leading experts who work daily in the field of prevention and protection from domestic violence.

The main focus of the meeting was on the urgency and importance of continued multisectoral cooperation, as well as on the consistent implementation of the adopted three-year Strategy. During the discussions, the participants particularly emphasized that effective results cannot be achieved by acting in isolation, but that the key to success lies in connecting all segments of society. Special emphasis was placed on the design and implementation of long-term preventive activities, but also on significantly strengthening the entire system of support and protection available to victims of violence. It was emphasized that only coordinated and strategic action by all relevant stakeholders in the field can yield sustainable results and bring about real changes in the community.

As part of the central panel discussion, the attendees were also addressed by the representative of the Federal Ministry of Culture and Sports, Hanadin Basarić, who is actively participating in this process and as a member of the Coordination Body for Monitoring the Implementation of the Strategy itself. On that occasion, Basarić clearly underlined the importance of the role that culture, sports and the civil sector play in raising public awareness of this problem. He emphasized that the Federal Ministry of Culture and Sports remains strongly committed to providing its full contribution to this fight through its regular programs, but also through continuous support to citizens’ associations and their project activities. The goal, as Basarić stated, is to systematically support all projects aimed at preventing and combating domestic violence, strengthening collective awareness and improving the preventive and institutional approach to this extremely important and sensitive social area.

The conference was successfully concluded with a unified and strong message from all present: joint, coordinated engagement of government institutions and the non-governmental, or civil, sector represents the only true key to building a safer, healthier and more responsible society for all its citizens.
