On Thursday, 18 April 2024, starting at 6:30 p.m., the final concert of the 26th Federal Competition of Primary, Secondary School and University Students of Music was held in the “Cvjetko Rihtman” concert hall. At the beginning of the concert, the President of the Association of Music and Ballet Pedagogues in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Mustafa Mujbegović, addressed the audience, thanked all the participants and announced the performance of the first place winners. Emilija Pavićević, Advisor for Organisation and Strategic Planning in the Field of Cultural and Historical Heritage Protection, addressed the audience on behalf of the Federal Minister of Culture and Sports Sanja Vlaisavljević.

The entire speech follows below:

When music gets under your skin, it stays there for a lifetime. Music does not stand for art only, but also for speech, it is a letter that everyone understands.

Dear organizers, members of the Association of Music and Ballet Pedagogues in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, dear teachers and friends of music, to who goes the credit for our today’s meeting, I would like to greet you on behalf of the Federal Ministry of Culture and Sports. The organisation of this competition for 26th year in a row, is an undertaking that best speaks of the importance of music.

Reading the invitation for this event, it is a fortune to see that 31 music institutions, 552 competitors and as many as 73 members of the jury are participating in the competition. I am happy to see so many talented primary and secondary school and university students, who tirelessly prepare their performances and make us all so proud.

I believe that the path you’ve been taking often has many obstacles and requires various sacrifices, but the fruits of your efforts are visible today, here, in a packed concert hall. I wish you many more successfully written musical chapters and congratulations on the results achieved at the 26th Federal competition of Primary, Secondary School and University Students of Music. I am looking forward to meeting you soon, the award-winning and talented artists in the premises of the Federal Ministry of Culture and Sports, which supports and encourages your efforts.

After the speech, the concert followed as another proof that music truly enriches and that the young people who performed are worthy winners of this year’s event.
