In the eve of 18 May – the International Museum Day, the Federal Ministry of Culture and Sports organised a special event today on the Promenade of Culture.
At the very beginning, the attendees were greeted by Minister Sanja Vlaisavljević:
“I would like to thank all of you who filled this beautiful Promenade in front of the Ministry in a wish to celebrate the values of art, culture and tradition. In the eve of the International Museum Day, the Federal Ministry of Culture and Sports dedicated today’s event to the significance, meaning and form of museums. Unfortunately, we witness that museums in Bosnia and Herzegovina do not have ideal conditions for smooth operations, but I want to believe that with the combined forces of all levels of authority and interested parties, museums, as well as all other cultural institutions, will live to the full,” Minister Vlaisavljević pointed out.
Berisa Mehović, an Expert Adviser for the Protection of Cultural and Historical Heritage and Museum Activities of the Federal Ministry of Culture and Sports, spoke about the importance of museums and emphasised that this year’s theme of the International Museum Day was “The future of Museums in Time of Rapid Changes”.
With reference to the importance of museums in today’s society, in an inclusive and educational form, the guest of the Ministry, Senka Ibrišimbegović, Director of the Public Institution “City Museums of Sarajevo” spoke and praised the initiative of the Ministry in organising similar projects: “Museums should become new institutions of encounter and this is exactly one of the main missions of celebrating this international day”, Ibrišimbegović pointed out.
The musical atmosphere was provided by the students of the High School of Music from Sarajevo: Zejneb Ibrahimović on guitar and the accordion duo, Armin Džafić and Hazim Mehmedić, who performed arrangements of three sevdalinka songs in an original arrangement, led by professor Boško Jović.
