International Taekwondo Day is observed on September 4th, a day when the world celebrates a discipline that has evolved from its Korean roots into an Olympic sport and a universal language of unity.
Taekwondo is a sport based on the balance of body and mind. Its key characteristics—speed, precision, and control—make it one of the most dynamic martial arts. Yet, its true value lies in its guiding principles: courtesy, integrity, perseverance, self-control, and an indomitable spirit. It is precisely these values that shape the character of young people and convey the message that victory is not merely the outcome of a match, but also a testament to personal strength and respect for others.
In our country, taekwondo has become a school of life for many generations. Through their medals and performances at European and World Championships, our taekwondo athletes confirm that Bosnia and Herzegovina holds a place on the global sports map. Their successes demonstrate that sport can be a vehicle for building trust, unity, and pride.
The Federal Ministry of Culture and Sports recognizes the importance of taekwondo and will continue to support its development, the strengthening of clubs, and the creation of conditions for our athletes to achieve continued success. Supporting this sport means investing in the future of our youth and promoting Bosnia and Herzegovina on the global sports stage.
Taekwondo taught me that discipline is the key to every victory.
