Last night, on 13 November 2023, the representatives of the Federal Ministry of Culture and Sports attended the premiere of the musical play for children called “The London Story”. The play was held in the Youth Theatre in Sarajevo, in organisation of the Association for the International Development of Music, Theatre and Multimedia. This is the sixth theatre production of this Association, which brought together an ensemble of talented children aged eight to fourteen.
The action of the play is set in London in the 19th century. It is based on the motifs of the famous novel “Oliver Twist” by Charles Dickens. With its social responsibility, the play draws attention to the vulnerable category of children without parental care. The project is intended for children and is of a non-commercial nature.
The creative team of the play consists of: Project Leader, Alma Ferović-Fazlić; Director, Riad Ljutović; Choreographer, Samra Mlinar Mandić; Costume Designer, Aleksandra Korizma; Conductor and Rehearsal Pianist, Bakir Samardžić; Stage Manager, Nihad Kapić and Sound Engineer, Momčilo Lađević. During the nine-month education, the ensemble of children were led by Acting and Stage Movement Mentor, Irma Alimanović and Singing Mentors, Irma Mulić and Ajsela Zoronjić. The main roles are played by Darjan Božinović, Aldin Tucić, Armin Omerović and Ana Marija Tomić.
In addition to the children’s acting ensemble, the students of the Classical Ballet Department of the Elementary Music School “Mladen Pozajić” from Sarajevo also participate in the performance.
The Federal Ministry of Culture and Sports supported financially for the realisation of this play, which is a real refreshment for the youth theatre scene.
