Josip Marić, a boy with Down syndrome from Mostar and a member of the Borsa Judo Club, won a bronze medal at the European Get Together tournament, which was recently held in Velika Gorica.
154 athletes from 12 European countries participated in the competition organised by the European Judo Union (EJU) and hosted by the Fuji Judo Club.
On this occasion, Minister Sanja Vlaisavljević sent a congratulatory message to Josip:
“Our dear Josip, I extend my sincere congratulations on this extraordinary success on behalf of the Federal Ministry of Culture and Sports and on my own behalf. Your skills, self-confidence, love for judo and life inspire us and make us immensely proud. We wish you many medals and the greatest success in all upcoming sports competitions, and until then, we look forward to hosting you at the Federal Ministry of Culture and Sports,” said the Minister.
Josip’s performance once again reminded us of the fundamental values of sport – perseverance, togetherness and respect.
