Minister Sanja Vlaisavljević received today in her office Jovan Finzi Marjanović, Director of the “Sarajevo Film Festival” and Dževad Mujan, Administrative Director of the “Sarajevo Film Festival” and “Obala Art Centre”. The meeting was attended, on behalf of the Ministry, also by Mirela Milićević Šečić, Expert Advisor for Theatre, Film and Music.
Marjanović and Mujan informed the Minister about the projects implemented in the past period, about the plans and activities envisaged for the forthcoming period, as well as about international acknowledgments received for the successful work of “Obala Art Centre” and “Sarajevo Film Festival”.
Minister Vlaisavljević, who personally remembers the time when the “Sarajevo Film Festival” was launched, and various stages of its development, used the opportunity of the first meeting to point out to the importance of this “Festival” that stands for much more than a mere film story. Furthermore, Minister congratulated to the SFF representatives on the valuable award presented to the SFF from Cannes – the Global Production for the “City of Film”. Namely, the City of Sarajevo was recognized as the best “City of Film” by the jury of the “Screen International”, one of the three professional publications with the biggest distribution across the world.
Minister Vlaisavljević pointed out to the fact that the Federal Ministry of Culture and Sport is open to cultural workers, whereby it is especially important to enhance institutional cooperation. As of Minister Vlaisavljević, the Federal Ministry of Culture and Sport plans to try uniting all the stakeholders of the film industry, so that they all may exchange experience and advance the quality of work. Minister proposed that the representatives of all festivals active in Bosnia and Herzegovina convene for a meeting in the premises of the Ministry within the shortest time possible in order to open to each other and start looking with the joint forces for systematic and long-term solutions that will be beneficial for the entire film industry.
Marjanović and Mujan informed Minister Vlaisavljević about the plans for this year’s, 29th, edition of the “Festival”, emphasizing the good long-term cooperation with the Federal Ministry of Culture and Sport that will certainly be continued, as all the attendants of the today’s meeting agreed.
Minister Vlaisavljević wished the representatives of the “Sarajevo Film Festival” success in implementation of another edition of the “Festival” that put Bosnia and Herzegovina and Sarajevo onto the film map not only of the region, but also of Europe and the entire world as a remarkable destination.
