Ljubuški in Sarajevo: An evening of culture, tradition and togetherness on the Promenade of Culture

Last night, the cultural spectacle “Ljubuški in Sarajevo” was held on the Promenade of Culture as a part of the “Days of European Heritage” manifestation, presenting in full glory the richness of identity, tradition and art of Ljubuški.

The programme was opened by Minister Sanja Vlaisavljević, who welcomed the numerous guests.

“I am particularly pleased that you are here with us today on our Promenade of Culture, where we strive to present the richness of our cities, our cultures, cultural identities and our customs. With this event, we strive to show how rich we are and to present what we have in our beautiful Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Many want to say that our cultural identities may be a burden, but the fact that you are here in such a large number shows that we are actually supporting each other and doing everything we can to be a wind at each other’s backs, to build our identities and our cultures.” – said Minister Vlaisavljević.

The Mayor of Ljubuški, Vedran Markotić, addressed the attendees with pride and gratitude, emphasizing the importance of such gatherings for strengthening interregional ties and promoting local heritage.

The audience had an opportunity to learn about the history, people and natural beauties of this region through the film about Ljubuški, which provided an emotional and visually luxurious view of the town.

The cultural part of the programme was a true symphony of tradition and art. The performances of the HKUD “Studenčica” and HKUD “Sv. Ante Humac” delighted the audience with authentic dances and songs that preserved the spirit of the Herzegovina region.

After the performances of the folklore groups, the monologue “The Legend of Herceg Stjepan Kosača” followed, bringing a touch of medieval drama to the Promenade.

The presentation of the Handball Club “Izviđač” reminded of the sporting successes that had made Ljubuški recognizable beyond the borders of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The programme was masterfully hosted by Tigran Delić. The second part of the evening was reserved for a concert by soloist Stjepan Lach, who gave the guests an evening to remember.

The gastronomic offer was a true feast for all the senses – prosciutto, olives, olive oil, fritters, raštika pesto and fresh fruit evoked the flavours of Herzegovina, while the wines of Ljubuški wineries were the stars of the evening.

“Ljubuški in Sarajevo” was an evening of meeting hearts, cultures and shared values, which showed that tradition is not a thing of the past but a living force that connects and inspires us.
