KUD “Biseri Bjelašnice” “walked” along the today’s Promenade of Culture

The “Wednesday Promenade of Culture” in front of the building of the Federal Ministry of Culture and Sports that has already become a tradition shone today with the performance of the Cultural and Art Society “Biseri Bjelašnice” (The Pearls of Bjelašnica) from Šabići, Trnovo Municipality.

The members of the KUD “Biseri Bjelašnice” performed in beautiful original costumes of the Bjelašnica region. They performed the choreography “Bjelašnica Village” and “Games around Sarajevo” by Armin Lučkin.

The today’s “European Heritage Days” programme was opened by the Head of the Scientific and Research Department of the Institute for Monuments Protection at the Ministry, Azra Lojo Hajro, who invited the guests, gathered in front of the Ministry building regardless of the summer heat, to enjoy the songs and dances of “Biseri Bjelašnice”. The role of this Cultural Society in the preservation of cultural heritage has been recognised by the Federal Ministry of Culture and Sports even before, as they were awarded by the Ministry a special charter for their contribution to the preservation of the cultural heritage of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

In the course of the programme, Delila Bukva from KUD “Biseri Bjelašnica” addressed the guests and introduced the Society that had been operating for 20 years with the aim of keeping from oblivion the songs and dances of the people of the Bjelašnica region.

The “Promenade of Culture” programme continues next Wednesday with folklore performance. The traditional event “European Heritage Days” will last until the end of the year. Its peak is expected at the final central event and the announcement of the winner of the “Youth and Heritage” competition.
