On 13 October 2025, employees of the Institute for the Monuments’ Protection inspected the current condition of several archaeological sites on the route planned for the reconstruction and construction of the M17.3 road. The reconstruction and construction of a new road is planned for the Drenovac-Poplat intersection and the Poplat entrance to Stolac (Vidovo polje) subdivision. The aforementioned project is being carried out by the Public Company Roads of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
By inspection of the several archaeological sites, several mounds (tumuli) were detected. Several tumuli were identified and recorded, especially in one of the subdivisions in question, for which protective measures need to be issued. The tumuli are filled with stones and overgrown with trees and bushes. Some of the tumuli were destroyed or completely devastated. It was impossible to approach some of them due to the inaccessible terrain.
Also, other stone structures and buildings were identified and recorded during the field inspection. In Poplat, a cooperative station building with arcades on the street facade (after the World War II) was recorded, which is assumed to be an older building. It was determined that the building was typical for the Stolac area.
