The Federal Ministry of Culture and Sports organised in cooperation with the Ministry of Defence of Bosnia and Herzegovina a jazz concert “In the Eve of the International Jazz Day” on the Promenade of Culture last night.
Performing classic jazz standards, members of the “Military Orchestra” of the Ministry of Defence of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the “Croatian Music of Mostar”, led by the conductor Filip Milošević, made this Sarajevo May night unforgettable. The Promenade featured covers of the songs “New York, New York”, “Summertime”, “Fly me to the Moon”, “All of me” and many others. In performing several songs, the orchestras were joined by the soloist Ivana Zrimšek Šaravanja, who delighting the audience.
The Federal Minister of Culture and Sports, Sanja Vlaisavljević, also welcomed the guests, emphasising the importance of holding such concerts that enrich the cultural scene and present cultural heritage through various types of art:
“Dear guests, representatives of the diplomatic corps, distinguished guests, it is such a pleasure to greet you. I would like to thank everyone who took time to open our Promenade, and can you imagine a better occasion than to celebrate the International Jazz Day? Jazz in itself carries a strong message, and our musical guests, the “Orchestra of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina” and the Croatian Music of Mostar, are a combination that will show how much beauty and goodness we can offer. I wish you a pleasant night! Welcome and enjoy yourself,” said Minister Vlaisavljević at the beginning of the concert.
Namely, UNESCO declared 30 April the International Jazz Day in order to learn more about the art of jazz, its origins and influence.
This was an opportunity, two days before the celebration of the International Jazz Day, to draw the public’s attention to this unique musical expression and its extraordinary heritage.
The concert was attended by numerous representatives of the cultural, diplomatic and political life of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
