Dževad Šabanagić, the long-time violinist, concert-master of the Sarajevo Philharmonic and music pedagogue, died at the age of 79.
On this occasion, Minister Sanja Vlaisavljević expresses on behalf of the Federal Ministry of Culture and Sports and on her personal behalf deepest condolences to the family and admirers of the character and work of maestro Šabanagić: “The departure of the prominent Bosnian artist, Dževad Šabanagić, represents an immeasurable loss for the BiH artistic scene, considering his exceptional contribution given selflessly during his active, excellent artistic and pedagogical work. To the family, friends and admirers of everything that maestro Šabanagić created during his rich, professional involvement, I express my sincere condolences.”
Šabanagić will be remembered as the first violin of the Sarajevo Philharmonic, professor of chamber music for strings at the Academy of Music in Sarajevo, as well as the winner of the 6 April Award of the City of Sarajevo.
