Branko Perić’s historical drama “Diva” premieres on the stage in Mostar

The premiere of the historical drama “Diva”, directed by Branko Perić, was held at the Croatian Cultural Centre “Herceg Stjepan Kosača” in Mostar. The world preview of the drama was held earlier as part of the Cannes Film Festival.

The film was shot on authentic locations in Herzegovina and Bosnia, including the historical sites where the first Croatian king Tomislav was crowned more than 1,100 years ago, and the film focuses on the story of Diva Grabovčeva, a beautiful Croatian girl from Rama, who, according to folk legend, refused to marry an Ottoman ruler, remaining faithful to her faith and beliefs.

The audience was addressed by the Federal Minister of Culture and Sports, Sanja Vlaisavljević, who connected the timeless story of the Diva with the heroine of Greek tragedies, Antigone, speaking about the courage of heroines who become symbols of their time.

“Diva Grabovčeva leaves a vow: May the people remember that I was faithful. Dear friends, may these words remind us that even in the darkest moment there is light. May they inspire us to stand bravely in the face of all challenges. And may they teach us that a person’s freedom begins in his heart (…)”, said the Federal Minister of Culture and Sports Vlaisavljević.

The premiere was attended by numerous guests from political and cultural life, as well as film lovers.
