29 April – World Dance Day

Dance is the hidden language of the soul.

Martha Graham

The Federal Ministry of Culture and Sports joins in celebrating World Dance Day, which is celebrated every year on April 29, organized by the International Dance Council at UNESCO. This day is dedicated to the universal language of movement that connects people, erases borders and celebrates creativity.

Dance is an art that combines tradition and modernity, expresses emotions and shapes the identity of communities. In Bosnia and Herzegovina, the rich dance heritage – from folk dances to contemporary choreographies – testifies to the diversity and power of cultural expression. Dance performances, festivals and school scenes remind us that rhythm and movement are an artistic act, but also a way of communication, togetherness and freedom.

World Dance Day is an opportunity to recognize all artists, choreographers, educators and dance enthusiasts, whose work enriches cultural life and inspires new generations.

The Ministry emphasizes the importance of supporting dance projects and education, because dance opens up space for creativity, tolerance and mutual understanding, and every movement, every rhythm, every choreography carries the message that culture lives through the body and spirit.

When you can’t speak, dance!
