15 April – World Art Day

There are three classes of people:

Those who see,

Those who see when they are shown

and those who do not see.

Leonardo Da Vinci

Today is the World Art Day, and that day was chosen because it is birthday of the great Renaissance artist Leonardo da Vinci.

Leonardo da Vinci was born in Vinci near Florence on 15 April 1452. He was an Italian painter, sculptor, architect, engineer and writer.

This day represents a global opportunity to celebrate artistic expression in all its forms, as well as to recognise the importance of art in the development of society, culture and the individual.

The World Art Day supports the connections between art, artists and the wider community, encourages the promotion of the diversity of artistic expression and highlights the contribution of artists to sustainable development.
