On Wednesday, 18 March 2026, the Association “Life with Down Syndrome of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina” organized in the Sarajevo City Center (SCC) a public event with the aim of raising awareness about the rights, opportunities and potential of people with Down syndrome, the importance of their inclusion in society, as well as strengthening unity.
The event was attended by Edna Šunjić and Hanadin Basarić on behalf of the Federal Ministry of Culture and Sports, who actively participated in contributing to raising awareness about the importance of inclusion, thus confirming the Ministry’s commitment to the development of an inclusive society. The performance “Inclusive Circle” sent a strong message that no one should be alone.
World Down Syndrome Day is celebrated every year on March 21 and is an opportunity to highlight the importance of equal rights, access to education, employment and health services for people with Down syndrome. The theme of this year’s celebration is: “Together against loneliness”.
Through the joint action of institutions, civil society organizations and the community, it is possible to build a society of equal opportunities, in which differences are respected, and every person has the opportunity for a dignified and fulfilling life.
