On 24 September 2025, the official signing-ceremony of the first Agreement on Cooperation between the Federal Ministry of Culture and Sports and the Special Olympics of Bosnia and Herzegovina was held on the Promenade of Culture and Sports in front of the Ministry, having opened a new chapter in institutional support and improving the quality of life for people with disabilities.
To the satisfaction of all present, numerous representatives of the Special Olympics BiH, members of the “Oaza” and “Life with Down Syndrome” Associations , employees of the Ministry and numerous guests and representatives of the media, the Agreement was signed on behalf of the Federal Ministry of Culture and Sports by Minister Sanja Vlaisavljević, who on that occasion stated the following:
“I want to believe that with this Agreement, from today onwards, any minister and any government will have to take care of this, the most fragile category of our population, which is brought together by the Special Olympics. The emphasis of the Agreement is on the obligations of government institutions,” said the Minister, emphasizing that, although the Special Olympics was well recognized in the world, that was still not the case in Bosnia and Herzegovina, which attitude needed to be changed.
On behalf of the Special Olympics of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Agreement on Cooperation was signed by Executive Director Kada Delić Selimović: “This, I can freely say, is a historic moment for the Special Olympics, considering that for the first time we have come to an institution that will help and recognize the work of the Special Olympics, our sports, health, educational, inclusive projects, all that we do. First of all, I would like to sincerely thank the Federal Minister of Culture and Sports, Sanja Vlaisavljević, who with her colleagues recognized what it means to be a member of the Special Olympics, what does it mean to achieve results at the Special Olympics, and that means a lot to us,” said Delić Selimović.
The audience witnessed another joyful moment on the Promenade. Namely, the Ministry decided to reward the golden Paralympian Rasim Bajrić with the new bicycle he had wanted and to thank him in a symbolic way for his efforts, sports achievements and the strength of spirit with which he inspires us every day.
A musical surprise for all those present was Bosnian singer Neno Murić, who, together with members of the Special Olympics of Bosnia and Herzegovina, sang several popular songs, sharing with them the joy of this significant moment.
