The Federal Ministry of Culture and Sports sincerely congratulates Bosnia and Herzegovina’s greatest para-swimmer of all time, Ismail Barlov, on his remarkable performance and gold medal victories at the Croatian Open Individual Para Swimming Championship held in Split.
With absolute dominance—winning four gold medals and achieving the most valuable result of the competition, an impressive 867 points in the 50-meter butterfly—Ismail Barlov once again confirmed his top sporting form, dedication, and champion’s strength. This success is given special significance by the fact that he competed despite current health challenges, showing exceptional courage, character, and sporting spirit. For this reason, our Ismail can serve as an example to others.
We also congratulate the Swimming Club “SPID” from Sarajevo for winning a total of six medals in the absolute category. Alongside Ismail Barlov’s four gold medals, Jasmin Stanar won silver, while Kanita Šabanović took bronze. We are equally proud of the performance of Ališan Omerbašić and the professional work of coach Ilda Kukuruzović, who together represent a model of dedication and systematic effort in developing sports for persons with disabilities.
This achievement represents a strong promotion of Bosnia and Herzegovina on the international sports scene and confirms the continuous progress of para swimming in our country.
The Federal Ministry of Culture and Sports will continue to support the development of sports and athletes who, through their results, commitment, and dignified representation of the homeland, inspire the entire nation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
We wish Ismail Barlov and all members of Swimming Club SPID much success in the continuation of the competitive season.
