Federal Minister of Culture and Sports Sanja Vlaisavljević met today with the representatives of the Kickboxing Association of Bosnia and Herzegovina: Branko Mihaljević, Elvedin Dubravec, Salko Zildžić and Mersed Mulić, as well as with the BiH national team members: Kanita Muminović, Isa Zildžić and Alen Merdan, who had just returned with medals from the World Junior Kickboxing Championship for Juniors and Younger Juniors in Budapest.
Minister Vlasaivljević welcomed the distinguished guests and congratulated the young athletes on the notable results achieved in Hungary, as well as on all the numerous medals won so far.
The Minister was particularly pleased to announce that the Sports Foundation, which would be focused on encouraging young athletes and their needs, providing them with scholarships, and purchasing sports equipment, would start working from the beginning of 2025. Furthermore, the Minister announced the Law on the Support of Athletes that would pay special attention to non-Olympic sports, which until now, regardless of the numerous top results achieved by BiH athletes, had not been recognised by the awarding system in FBiH.
The representatives of the Association used this occasion to present minister Vlaisavljević with a certificate of thanks for “selfless support in the development of the Kickboxing Association of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the development of kickboxing sport”. They pointed out that the Ministry had an excellent work system and that they finally managed to achieve dialogue and receive financial support after many years.
They also emphasized that athletes did their part, but they were positively surprised and grateful when the ministers, in this case Minister Vlaisavljević, did their part too, which, unfortunately, was a rare thing”, concluded today’s guests.
