The Institute for the Protection of Monuments that operates within the Federal Ministry of Culture and Sports carried out last year expert conservation supervision over the execution of works for the below-listed buildings and areas of cultural and historical heritage that were declared national monuments of Bosnia and Herzegovina:

1. Conservation and restoration works on the facade and interior of the building of “Vrhbosnia Theological Seminary” (Building Complex – Church of St. Cyril and Methodius with Theological Seminary in Sarajevo) – works completed on the facade;

2. Conservation and restoration works on the facade and roof of the “Gospodicina kuća” building – works completed;

3. Conservation and restoration works on the “B4k” tower building in the Old Town of Gradačac – the works to be continued in 2025;

4. Conservation and restoration works on the painted surfaces in the interior of the Husejnija mosque in Gradačac – the works to be continued in 2025;

t5. Conservation and restoration works on the renovation of the “NERETVA” hotel in Mostar – the works to be continued in 2025;

6. Conservation and restoration works on the roof and bell-tower of the Old Orthodox Church in Sarajevo – works completed;

7. Work on ongoing maintenance of part of the fence walls of the “Jajce Barracks” facility in Sarajevo – urgent works completed;

8. Conservation-restoration works on the façade of the “Isa-beg’s Bath“ in Sarajevo – works completed;

9. Conservation and restoration works on the building of the Historical Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Sarajevo – the works to be continued in 2025;

10. Conservation and restoration works on the residential and business building ” Berber Gallery”, Zelenih beretki 14 in Sarajevo – works to be continued in 2025;

11. Conservation and restoration works on the building of the House of the Armed Forces in Sarajevo – the works to be continued in 2025;

12. Conservation works and presentation of the archaeological remains of the mosque and maktab at the site of the Kalin Hadži Archaeological Park of Alija’s Mosque in Sarajevo – works completed;

13. Works on the paving of Karlo Paržik Square in Sarajevo – coverage of the “Historical Urban Landscape of Sarajevo” – works completed;

14. Conservation and restoration works on the building House of Nurija Pozderac in Cazin – works completed;

15. Work on replacing the exterior joinery of the “Despić House Historical Monument” in Sarajevo – work completed;

16. Ongoing maintenance works – adaptation of the hall on the East side of the “Historical Buildings – Fire-fighters’ Barracks” in Sarajevo – works completed;

17. Restoration works of the facade of the Austro-Hungarian building in Telali Street 4 in Sarajevo – coverage of the “Historical Urban Landscape of Sarajevo” – works completed;

18. Ongoing maintenance work on the interior of the “Despić House Historical Monument” in Sarajevo – works completed;

19. Restoration and conservation works of the entrance door of the Native Museum in Visoko – the works to be continued in 2025;

20. Works on the facade and replacement of carpentry for the purpose of energy efficiency at the building of the Faculty of Economics in Sarajevo – the works to be continued in 2025;

21. Conservation and restoration works on the building ” Semiz Ali-paša’s Grave” in Prača – the works to be continued in 2025;

22. Conservation and restoration works on the mosque building in Umoljani;

23. Conservation and restoration works on the facade of the “Beledija” building in Sarajevo – works completed;

24. Conservation-restoration works on the facade of the building in Brodac Street 2 in Sarajevo – works completed;

25. Conservation and restoration works on the facade of the building at Zelenih beretki Street 7 in Sarajevo – works completed;

26. Conservation and restoration works on the facade of the building at 55 Hamdije Kreševljakovića Street – the works to be continued in 2025;

27. Conservation and restoration works on the Old Town of Travnik – the planned phase of the works completed;

28. Conservation and restoration works at the Jewish cemetery in Travnik – works completed;

29. Conservation and restoration works on the ” Hasan Kjafije Madrassa ” building in Prusac – the works to be continued in 2025;

30. Works on the rehabilitation of the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in Mostar – works have been carried out since 2010 and will continue in 2025;

31. Conservation and restoration works on the replacement of the cross and the consolidation of the roof of the bell-tower of the Cathedral Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Sarajevo – works completed;

32. Conservation and restoration works of the exterior of the Mosque in Kraljeva Sutjeska – works to be continued in 2025;

II The Institute for the Protection of Monuments that operates within the Federal Ministry of Culture and Sports, worked in the course of the last year, in addition to operational protection, also on drafting expert opinions on projects of conservation, restoration, rehabilitation or ongoing maintenance of the cultural and historical heritage of BiH, as well as on projects that could have an impact on cultural and historical heritage assets.

506 requests for interventions in protected areas or individual facilities were examined and commented on through expert opinions, which implied office work on research and analysis of documentation along with field visits to locations.

In addition to the national monuments of Bosnia and Herzegovina, cases related to the design and construction of infrastructural facilities, roads, highways, expressways, factory plants, plans of a higher or lower order according to the investor or the Federal Ministry of Environment and Tourism, requests from the territories of counties that do not have an established protection service, and which are related to the cultural and architectural heritage were processed; for national monuments of BiH, for registered and protected properties as well as for unregistered properties.

Requests for consent were processed, investigative works were monitored and archaeological research reports were commented on, which, according to the request of the Institute for the Protection of Monuments, were requested from investors who plan significant interventions in the area in order to build infrastructure facilities, roads, highways, expressways, energy plants, factory plants, exploitation fields of mineral raw materials, etc.
