On 27 February 2026, the supervision of the conservation and restoration works in the Stari grad Gradačac complex was carried out.
The building complex The Old Town in Gradačac is a protected national monument of Bosnia and Herzegovina, declared by the Decision of the Commission for the Preservation of National Monuments of BiH at the session held from 2 to 8 November 2004. Protection and rehabilitation measures established by the Law on the Implementation of Decisions of the Commission for the Preservation of National Monuments established under Annex 8 of the General Peace Agreement for Peace in Bosnia and Herzegovina are applied to the national monument.
Conservation and restoration works on the Old Town of Gradačac include the rehabilitation of the “B4K” fortification tower and ongoing maintenance on the entrance drop towers (north, west and south) and the Clock Tower.
After excavating the soil from the fortification tower “B4K” and adopting a solution for rehabilitating the walls and foundation of the tower, work was started on strengthening the foundation, injecting the middle layer of the composite wall, removing the existing binder and cleaning the joints and filling with a binder based on natural hydraulic lime.
Work is also underway on the installation of the illumination of the Upper Town, which includes ramparts with towers and the tower of Husein – Captain Gradašćević, according to the approved project documentation.
The ongoing maintenance works of the drop tower and the clock tower are in the preparatory work phase.
