Report from the field visit to the parish church of St. Michael the Archangel in Vareš on 3 March 2026


On 3 March 2026, an inspection was carried out of the state of conservation and restoration works on the ongoing maintenance of the facade of the parish church of St. Michael the Archangel in Vareš. The inspection was carried out in the presence of representatives of the investor, supervision on behalf of the investor and the contractor.

The architectural ensemble of the Parish Church in Vareš is a protected national monument of Bosnia and Herzegovina, proclaimed by the Decision of the Commission for the Preservation of National Monuments of Bosnia and Herzegovina at its session held from 7 to 11 October 2003. The national monument is subject to protection and rehabilitation measures established by the Law on the Implementation of Decisions of the Commission for the Preservation of National Monuments Established under Annex 8 of the General Peace Agreement for Peace in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The ongoing maintenance works in question include facade works, and are being carried out by the company “Neimari” d.o.o. from Sarajevo.

An inspection of the state of the works revealed that the work on the preparation of the facade has continued. Decorative elements were installed around the entrance door on the western facade. It was established that the works are performed in accordance with the project documentation and given guidelines.

The contractor installed samples of the selected colors, which, after inspection, were found to be unacceptable. A selection of new tones that will be placed on the facade has been made.
