1 December 2025 – Zelenih Beretki Street, Sarajevo
The Institute for the Protection of Monuments within the Federal Ministry of Culture and Sports received a request from the Department of Urban Planning, Spatial Planning, and Environmental Protection of the Municipality of Stari Grad Sarajevo for the issuance of urban planning consent to install a free-standing advertising billboard at the location in Zelenih Beretki Street.
Upon review of the submitted documentation and on-site inspection, it was established that the object belongs to the scope of the national monument of Bosnia and Herzegovina titled Historic Urban Landscape of Sarajevo (“Official Gazette of BiH,” nos. 1/21 and 10/21), to which protection measures apply as defined by the Law on the Implementation of Decisions of the Commission to Preserve National Monuments established under Annex 8 of the General Framework Agreement for Peace in Bosnia and Herzegovina (“Official Gazette of FBiH,” nos. 2/02, 8/02, 27/02, 6/04, and 51/07).
The Institute is of the opinion that the request can be accepted in principle. However, for the issuance of urban planning consent, the request must be supplemented with a conceptual design of the billboard including proposed dimensions, exact urban position, materialization, and orientation.
1 December 2025 – Sarači Street No. 32, Sarajevo
The Institute received a request from the same municipal department for approval to install two horizontal illuminated signs at the entrance of a business premises located at Sarači Street No. 32.
Inspection of the documentation and the site confirmed that the building is within the scope of the national monument Historic Urban Landscape of Sarajevo.
The Institute concluded that the documentation must be supplemented with the exact position, appearance, size, and materialization of the signs in order to grant approval for their installation.
1 December 2025 – Ferhadija/Muvekita Street No. 10, Sarajevo
The Institute received a request from the municipal department for an extension of the validity of decision No. UP-I-05-194207/24-JJ dated October 29, 2024, which granted approval for the installation of two horizontal illuminated signs on the façade of a residential-business building at the corner of Ferhadija and Muvekita Streets.
The Institute determined that the building is within the scope of the national monument Historic Urban Landscape of Sarajevo.
The Institute is of the opinion that the request for extension can be accepted. This professional opinion relates to the aspect of cultural-historical heritage and is valid until the expiration of the period defined by the Municipality or until the adoption of regulations with guidelines for advertising in the Historic Urban Landscape of Sarajevo. The investor is obliged to fulfill all contractual obligations with the competent municipal service.
2 December 2025 – Mostar, Pavement Restoration in the Old Town
The Institute received a request from the “Old Town” Agency Mostar for expert opinion on a project for routine maintenance of cobblestone streets in Stari Most, Kujundžiluk, Kurluk, and Mala Tepa (HUK zone of Mostar), prepared by the authorized design company “ARHI-PLUS” d.o.o. Mostar.
The Historic Urban Landscape of Mostar was declared a national monument of Bosnia and Herzegovina (“Official Gazette of BiH,” no. 66/19).
Review of the documentation confirmed that all planned works are routine maintenance, necessary for the proper and safe functioning of the monument, and will not endanger it. Works include replacement and repair of damaged cobblestones. The technology and materials specified are in line with best practices for national monuments.
The Institute is of the opinion that consent can be granted for the works as described in the technical documentation. Any deviation will be sanctioned according to applicable laws. The investor must notify the Institute of the exact start date of works so that professional supervision can be carried out.
2 December 2025 – Maršala Tita Street No. 26, Sarajevo
The Institute received a request from the Department of Spatial Planning and Investments of the Municipality of Centar Sarajevo for expert opinion/consent to install an LED display on a business building at Maršala Tita Street No. 58.
The building is located within the boundaries of the national monument Historic Urban Landscape of Sarajevo.
The request included project documentation titled “Main Project – Amendment and Supplement to LED Display Advertising Project,” prepared by “ORTHO.” d.o.o. Sarajevo, along with a previously issued positive opinion of the Institute (No. 07-36-4-7351/23 dated February 13, 2022).
After reviewing the documentation and inspecting the site, and considering the previous positive opinion and the proposed amendments (size of the display and method of fixing the steel structure), the Institute is of the opinion that consent can be issued for the installation of the LED display as defined in the submitted main project.
This opinion relates exclusively to the aspect of cultural heritage protection and compliance with applicable regulations. The investor must carry out the works in accordance with all laws and regulations on construction site organization at the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina level, and must notify the Institute of the start date of works so that timely professional supervision can be conducted.
2 December 2025 – Ferhadija Street No. 14a, Sarajevo
The Institute for the Protection of Monuments within the Federal Ministry of Culture and Sports received a request from the Department of Urbanism, Spatial Planning, and Environmental Protection of the Municipality of Stari Grad Sarajevo for an extension of the validity of decision No. UP-I-05-194473/24-DG dated November 6, 2024, which granted approval for the installation of one illuminated sign on the façade of the building above the entrance to a business premises at Ferhadija Street No. 14a.

The Institute received a request from the Department of Urbanism, Spatial Planning, and Environmental Protection of the Municipality of Stari Grad Sarajevo for approval to install one horizontal illuminated sign on the façade of the building at Ćumurija Street No. 8.
Inspection of the documentation and the site confirmed that the building is within the scope of the national monument Historic Urban Landscape of Sarajevo.
The Institute is of the opinion that consent can be granted for the installation of one horizontal illuminated sign at the location, in accordance with the submitted documentation.

5 December 2025 – Muvekita Street No. 5, Sarajevo
The Federal Ministry of Spatial Planning forwarded to the Institute a case for resolution concerning the request of Faris Hamaluka from Sarajevo for consent to carry out routine maintenance works on the roof of the building at Saliha Hadžihuseinovića Muvekita Street No. 5.
The building is located within the boundaries of the national monument Historic Urban Landscape of Sarajevo (“Official Gazette of BiH,” nos. 1/21 and 10/21).
The request was accompanied by project documentation titled Project of Routine Roof Maintenance above the Attic Apartment at Saliha Hadžihuseinovića Muvekita Street No. 5 – Stari Grad Sarajevo, prepared by the design company “Bosnaing” d.o.o. Sarajevo.
Review of the documentation, provisions of the Commission to Preserve National Monuments, and site inspection established the following:
- The project contains a description of works, detailed bill of quantities and cost estimate, and architectural roof detail drawings.
- Previous consent of the Institute for routine maintenance works No. 07-364-4344-2/25 DŽ.Š.
- All works specified in the documentation are routine maintenance works.
- Works include replacement of grooved roof tiles, partial replacement of roof structure, and replacement of roof windows.
The Institute is of the opinion that all works, technology, and materials are acceptable from the aspect of national monument protection. The planned works will not endanger the current appearance of the national monument, and the request of Faris Hamaluka from Sarajevo for routine maintenance works at the location can be approved, in accordance with the submitted project.
The investor is obliged to notify the Institute of the start of works so that timely and legally required professional supervision can be carried out.
