Regional Youth Participation Index for 2023 presented

On Monday, 19 May 2025, the first presentation of the regional Youth Participation Index for 2023 was held in Sarajevo, organised by the Institute for Youth Development KULT.

On behalf of the Federal Ministry of Culture and Sports, the presentation was attended by Hanadin Basarić, Expert Associate for Youth Associations in the Youth Division.

The Youth Participation Index is an important tool that provides insight into the level of youth involvement in political, economic and social life. It includes 25 indicators that apply to the countries of the region – Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Albania, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Kosovo and Turkey – and allows for a comparative analysis of the position of youth among the member states of the Network of Youth Organisations of the Western Balkans and Turkey.

This is the first year in which the official data for Bosnia and Herzegovina has been collected and presented within the framework of this Index, which opens up a new opportunity for creating youth policies based on relevant and comparable indicators.

After the presentation, a panel discussion was held on the topic “Availability of Statistical Data on youth in Bosnia and Herzegovina – Challenges and Opportunities”, during which participants discussed ways to improve the data collection process, in order to enable the adoption of more effective and targeted youth-oriented policies.

The Federal Ministry of Culture and Sports welcomes the efforts invested in the institutionalisation of monitoring the position of youth and expresses its readiness to actively contribute to the processes leading to the improvement of the position of youth in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
