Reception of the Bosnian alpinist Aida Peko on the occasion of the expedition to Mount Everest

Aida Peko is writing a new chapter in the history of Bosnia and Herzegovina alpinism as the first woman from Bosnia and Herzegovina to climb the highest peak in the world – Mount Everest. As an important step on this path, Aida has already successfully reached the top of Manaslu in Nepal, a mountain of more than 8,000 meters, thus confirming her superior mountaineering skills, extraordinary courage and long-term dedication to this demanding sport.

On the occasion of this important sports project, a reception was held at the Federal Ministry of Culture and Sports, where the possibilities of financial support were discussed, with the aim of supporting the ascent of Everest and the further development of BiH alpinism. The reception was attended by Alma Kurtalić and Marko Komšić from the Sports Sector.

Aida Peko’s climbs also have a strong social message. Her story is a reminder that dreams have no gender boundaries and that the highest peaks are attainable by those who believe in themselves and work hard. With her example, Aida inspires women and girls to dare to dream big, to not give up in the face of obstacles and to bravely walk the path they choose for themselves – no matter how demanding that path is.
