Promenade of Culture: Mostar Brings Warmth to Sarajevo’s Night

At the Promenade of Culture in Sarajevo, the light of Mostar shone brightly last night. A city of rich tradition, song, and art presented itself to the audience through an exhibition, folklore, music, and culinary delights, bringing to the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina a breath of Herzegovinian hospitality and joy.

The programme was opened by Esma Džiho, Senior Advisor at the Department of Culture of the City of Mostar, who conveyed greetings on behalf of Mayor Mario Kordić and expressed gratitude to the Federal Ministry of Culture and Sports for the opportunity to present Mostar at the Promenade of Culture, as well as for its longstanding cooperation and support.

On behalf of the Ministry, Vladimir Podany addressed the gathered guests, saying: “Mostar could not bring us the sun in these late afternoon hours, but it has brought something that will warm us tonight – a heartfelt atmosphere of togetherness and joy.”

A special highlight of the evening was the performance of HKUD “Sveti Ante – Cim” Mostar, who delighted the audience with the final kolo from the opera Ero s onog svijeta, songs and dances from Western Herzegovina, the traditional Herzegovinian linđo dance, and a fashion show of traditional attire. Their dedication to preserving the cultural heritage of Mostar and its surroundings turned the stage into a living treasury of tradition.

The Museum of Herzegovina Mostar presented the exhibition titled Cultural Heritage of Mostar Through Time, while the Tambura Orchestra of Mostar in the second part of the evening brought melodies that warmed the heart and reminded us that culture unites people and cities in a shared celebration of tradition and art.

Alongside the rich cultural programme, guests enjoyed Mostar’s delicacies – pomegranates, wine, prosciutto, traditional fritters, and fig jam – flavours which, together with song and dance, brought the spirit of Herzegovina to Sarajevo.
