Program Dedicated to Empowering Youth Held: “It’s Time for Youth, Peace and Security in BiH”

On December 5, 2025, within the framework of the project “It’s Time for Youth, Peace and Security in Bosnia and Herzegovina”, a full-day program was held dedicated to strengthening the role of young people in decision-making processes, promoting peace and security, and building inclusive communities. The event brought together youth from across BiH, representatives of institutions, and experts in the fields of youth policy and social development.

On behalf of the Federal Ministry of Culture and Sports, Adnan Bektić and Hanadin Basarić attended the program, supporting initiatives aimed at strengthening cooperation between youth and institutions.

The program opened with the panel “Three Perspectives, One Agenda”, which emphasized the importance of integrating the Youth, Peace and Security (YPS) agenda into domestic policies. Participants then took part in a Gallery Walk session, showcasing the key pillars of the YPS agenda and examples of their practical implementation.

The central part of the day was dedicated to focus group work across four thematic areas of particular importance for young people in Bosnia and Herzegovina:

  1. Youth participation in decision-making processes
  2. Mental health and psychological support
  3. Physical security, protection, and violence prevention
  4. Public policies and access to safe, inclusive spaces
  5. Through collaborative work within YPS Co-Design circles, participants developed proposals for priorities and concrete guidelines for future action, contributing to youth empowerment and the improvement of their institutional position.
  6. At the conclusion of the program, the outcomes were presented and the continuation of the YPS agenda implementation process in BiH was initiated, reaffirming the commitment to creating a safer, more inclusive, and participatory environment for young people.
