The Federal Ministry of Culture and Sports organized last night the final central event of the “Days of European Heritage 2024” manifestation in the Hall of the Catholic Faculty of Theology in Sarajevo.
The goal of the event was to direct the public attention to the preservation, care and protection of cultural and historical heritage throughout Europe, and through the affirmation and presentation of one’s own cultural heritage as an important part of the common European heritage, which the Federal Ministry of Culture and Sports did by organising as many as 30 events on the Promenade of Culture in the past period of more than seven months.
The implementation of such a multi-month manifestation would not be possible without the numerous participants of this year’s “European Heritage Days 2024”.
On our Promenade of Culture, different types of art, worldviews and traditions were intertwined, all with the aim of preserving heritage and culture, As a sign of gratitude and mutual cooperation, Minister Sanja Vlaisavljević, Head of a Department in the Institute for the Protection of Monuments, Azra Lojo-Hajro and a staff-member Edna Šunjić presented all this year’s participants from the entire Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina with the plaques for outstanding contribution to the realisation of this year’s manifestation.
Minister Vlaisavljević greeted the guests in the packed Hall of the Faculty, thanking them for their exceptional contribution to the realisation of this year’s “Days of European Heritage”, which took a completely new dimension and united numerous artists through networks, paths and connections on the Promenade of Culture with the aim of preserving the rich traditions of our homeland of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
This year’s theme “Roads, Connections and Networks” was an opportunity to travel the paths of history again, and to explore our local heritage, which is connected to a wide range of influences. An important segment of this event was the educational programme “Youth and Heritage”, which encouraged young people to preserve, care for and love the cultural and historical heritage of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
At the central event, diplomas were awarded to the most successful elementary, high school and university students from the entire Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina who won the most points from the audience and expert jury with their documentary, art, literary and video works. Diplomas were presented to this year’s winners by the most successful students of last year’s “Youth and Heritage” programme and members of the expert jury of the Federal Ministry of Culture and Sports.
In the musical part of the program, dancers Andrea Vujović and Faris Karkelja, as well as Lašvan divas and members of the brass band “Lašva” from Nova Bila, who delighted the audience with their performances of popular songs, performed. Young Ajdin Osmanović from Srebrenik, accompanied by professor Jasmin Brašnjić, treated a large audience to an excellent performance of the sevdaline “Kad ja pođoh na Bembaša”.
