Panel discussion on “Sustainable Cultural Heritage Management: Challenges and Solutions” held in the Ministry

The panel discussion titled “Sustainable Cultural Heritage Management: Challenges and Solutions” was held on 9 October 2025 in organisation of the Federal Ministry of Culture and Sports and the Institute for the Protection of Monuments. The panel discussion was moderated by Martina Marinčić, an employee of the Institute for the Protection of Monuments. The panelists were: Lejla Džumhur, PhD and Head of the Department of Theory and History of Architecture and Protection of Built Heritage at the Faculty of Architecture, University of Sarajevo, Adnan Kaljanac, Professor and Doctor at the Department of Archaeology, Faculty of Philosophy, University of Sarajevo, Josip Gelo, Senior Curator of the Sacral Collection of the Franciscan Museum and Gallery Gorica Livno, and Tarik Silajdžić, archaeologist and employee of the Local History Museum Visoko. The panel discussion was divided into three thematic blocks.

In the first thematic block titled “Communities and Conflicts of Interest”, the focus was on the participation of communities in the processes of planning, preservation and promotion of cultural heritage. In the second thematic block titled “Financing, Innovation and Revitalization”, the focus was on issues of sustainable financing and innovative approaches in the preservation of cultural heritage. In the third thematic block titled “Climate Change and Spatial Planning”, the complex topic of the impact of climate change on cultural heritage was raised with questions. The panel discussion was attended by numerous guests: representatives of county institutes for the protection of cultural and historical heritage, professors and archaeologists, representatives of numerous associations and students.
