Orašje in Sarajevo: The Spirit of Posavina Warmed the Hearts of Visitors at Sarajevo’s Cultural Promenade

Orašje, a modern city with a strong identity and rich tradition, presented last night at the Cultural Promenade, within the program “European Heritage Days 2025,” a rich and meaningful showcase of the cultural, historical, and creative heritage of the Posavina region. The program moderator, Ilija Baotić, in the opening part of the event, informed the audience about the development of the city on the Sava River through exhibition and promotional content, as well as about the distinct features of the Posavina region – from traditions and festivals to authentic gastronomic delicacies.

The mayor of Orašje, Marijan Oršolić, did not hide his satisfaction with the opportunity to present the culture and tradition of this Posavina region in Sarajevo:

“It is wonderful to return to Sarajevo, wonderful to see this city again, especially in the pre-Christmas and pre-New Year period. I thank Minister Vlaisavljević for organizing evenings like this, where our towns and municipalities can be presented in the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and for everything the Federal Ministry of Culture and Sports does for our city. Thank you all for coming, and everything our small but tidy city can offer, you will see in the continuation of the program,” said Mayor Oršolić.

As usual, the federal minister of culture and sports, Sanja Vlaisavljević, also addressed the guests at the Cultural Promenade, extending a warm welcome:

“I am happy that our guests come from afar, from the beautiful part of our Bosnia and Herzegovina to Sarajevo, and that tonight we will celebrate here the beauty of our Orašje and its surroundings. Much can be said about Orašje, but what impresses is the enthusiasm of our guests, which moves mountains. Dear friends, welcome, I am convinced you will do everything to make this evening unforgettable, so let the joy begin,” said Minister Vlaisavljević.

Later in the program, Jozo Jezerčić, director of the Museum of the Franciscan Monastery Tolisa – Gate of Bosnia, addressed the guests, presenting the only museum in the Orašje area, which contains a valuable numismatic collection, ancient weapons and tools, as well as ethnographic and church items, such as costumes and liturgical vestments.

The program continued with recitals by guests from Orašje and a musical performance. Nela Župarić and Katarina Marošević presented poems by Jose Živković Soja, while soloist Magdalena Mišković, accompanied by professor Marija Nedić on piano, performed the piece “Departure.”

After the introductory part of the program, numerous guests at the Cultural Promenade enjoyed a concert by the choir “Adoro,” which performed many popular domestic and foreign songs, bringing warmth to the chilly Sarajevo night.

The “Adoro” choir is a three-part mixed choir that operates within the Parish of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Tolisa. They sing choral works, adapt chansons, perform traditional liturgical songs, klapa and tamburica songs from various parts of the world, and also perform several pieces from the classical repertoire.

Last night at the Promenade, the most famous Posavina gastronomic delicacies were also presented, further enhancing the atmosphere with the charm of this beautiful region in the north of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
