“Bosnia is a wonderful and interesting country, not ordinary at all in terms of its nature and its people… That’s why you need to protect the noble impulses that calm the blood and give priority to reason and peace.” That’s how the academician Josip Muselimović spoke about his homeland BiH, which he loved and criticised with fatherly love.
A prominent Mostar academic, lawyer, writer, columnist, Josip Muselimović died last night in Mostar. His immeasurable contribution to cultural and intellectual work was also recognised in Matica hrvatska Mostar, where he was the Honorary President and Secretary General of the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Muselimović, jurist and lawyer, who went beyond the boundaries of the profession and the letter of the law, was a role model for numerous younger generations. He is the author of several works and the winner of numerous recognitions and awards in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Serbia, Montenegro, Macedonia and Turkey.
Muselimović celebrated his 80th birthday with the presentation of his book “Paths and Detours”. The collection of texts on roads and detours clearly shows all the challenges that were put before an intellectual who turned detours into roads and made the roads bigger and wider.
On behalf of the Federal Ministry of Culture and Sports, Minister Sanja Vlaisavljević sends her sincere condolences to the family, friends and admirers of the work of academician Muselimović.
May he rest in peace!
