Ministry of Science, Higher Education and Youth of the Canton of Sarajevo organised on 25 July 2024 in the premises of the Cantonal Government in Sarajevo a working meeting about the current status of the BiH National and University Library. The meeting was attended by Federal Minister of Culture and Sports Sanja Vlaisavljević, Federal Minister of Education and Science Jasna Duraković, Prime Minister of the Canton of Sarajevo Nihad Uk, Minister of Science, Higher Education and Youth of the Canton of Sarajevo, Adna Mesihović, Minister of Culture and Sports of Sarajevo Canton, Kenan Magoda, Director of the National and University Library of BiH Ismet Ovčin and President of the Council of Employees of the National and University Library of BiH.

The meeting participants concluded, inter alia, that financing and the status of the BiH National and University Library must be resolved. The National and University Library of Bosnia and Herzegovina is considered to have immeasurable importance for the society, not only as keeper of cultural heritage, but also as the key institution for academic and scientific development. The conversation focused on concrete steps to be undertaken in order to finally resolve the legal status of NUB. The priority stated by the President of the Staff Council is to change the management structure in order to start resolving the accumulated problems.
