Minister Sanja Vlaisavljević and employees of the Ministry attended the UP & DOWN performance in the Sarajevo War Theatre

On 15 April 2025, Minister Sanja Vlaisavljević and employees of the Federal Ministry of Culture and Sports attended the documentary “UP & DOWN” play in the Sarajevo War Theatre, created as a result of work with young performers with Down syndrome.

The play director is Ermin Bravo, and the play stars: Edna Šunjić, Anes Kujović, Ahmed Mašetić, Ema Agić, Harun Tanović and Selma Hodžić.

Choreography is by Selma Hodžić and Amila Terzimehić, scenography and costume design by Adisa Vatreš Selimović, and dramaturgy by Emina Omerović. The artistic associate for inclusion is Alena Džebo.

In the “UP & DOWN” play, the young people with Down syndrome talk about the process of their maturation, courage, independence, rights that belong to them, barriers and challenges they face in society. They are independent, but their future is not only in their hands, but also in ours. This is supported by contributions from their workplaces where they work and earn, and they are given the opportunity to be equal members of the community.

The actress in the play, Edna Šunjić, is an employee of the Ministry who, for the first time in the history of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, is employed in an institution for an indefinite period of time.

The thunderous applause and reactions of the audience at the end of the play are a proof that performances of this type are very necessary in our society, as they inspire and encourage the thinking.
