On 11 December 2024, the Round Table titled “Commitment to the Implementation of the Strategy for Prevention and Fight Against Domestic Violence 2024-2027” was held in organisation of the FBIH Gender Centre within the EU inclusion project in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The event was held at the President Hotel in Sarajevo, with the aim of gathering the key stakeholders from relevant ministries, institutions and non-government organizations involved in the implementation of the Strategy.
The Strategy, which aims to reduce domestic violence through three key priorities related to the Istanbul Convention principles, focuses on improving the system of prevention, protection of victims and improvement of investigative and judicial actions. Challenges in the implementation of the Strategy and the need for continuous multi-sector cooperation were discussed.
The Round Table was attended by Hanadin Basarić, member of the Team that worked on the Strategy development on behalf of the Federal Ministry of Culture and Sports, which was recently adopted by the Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Basarić attended the Round Table as a visitor, listening to the discussion on important topics related to the prevention of domestic violence and the protection of victims.
In the panel, the representatives of the institutions presented the activities of their departments, emphasizing the importance of joint action in order to achieve a social framework with zero tolerance towards violence. The implementation of the Strategy, as well as the engagement of all sectors, is of key importance for building a safer and fairer society.
