Meeting of Assistant Minister for Sports Adnan Đindo with the President of the Sports Association of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Persons in Bosnia and Herzegovina

The Assistant Minister for Sports Adnan Đindo met with Edis Adrović, President of the Sports Association of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Persons in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The topic of the meeting was the initiative to amend the Sports Act of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Edis Adrović informed Džindo about the problems faced by the Association when applying for registration with the Register of Associations at the Ministry of Justice of Bosnia and Herzegovina, since Article 28.d. of the Sports Act of Bosnia and Herzegovina stipulates as follows: “The Sports Association of Persons with Disabilities is organised at the level of Bosnia and Herzegovina and entities, cantons and Brčko District of Bosnia and Herzegovina, depending on the development of sports for persons with disabilities. For one sport type at the level of Bosnia and Herzegovina, only one sports association of persons with disabilities can be established”.

Edis Adrović announced that it was necessary to urgently amend this article of the Act in such a way that it is prescribed that at the level of Bosnia and Herzegovina, a sports association of people with disabilities can be established for all sports, especially for deaf and hard of hearing people.

Assistant Džindo emphasized that the Federal Ministry of Culture and Sports would support the initiative so that the Sports Association of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing in Bosnia and Herzegovina would solve the problems of registration with the Register.

Džindo introduced Adrović to the public invitation issued by the Federal Ministry of Culture and Sports every year for the co-financing of sports federations and clubs of persons with disabilities with the aim of supporting the organisation of sports federations and events that contribute to the affirmation and development of sports among persons with disabilities in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Furthermore, they discussed the Draft Act on Lifetime Monthly Compensation for Deserving Athletes in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, which aimed to introduce lifetime monthly compensation for top athletes who, according to the categorisation of athletes in BiH, were recognized as deserving, that is, as winners of the highest awards at the Olympic Games, the World Championship, the European Championship and the Paralympic Games.
