The Federal Minister of Culture and Sports, Sanja Vlaisavljević, received today on an inaugural visit the Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia, H.E. Manahan M.P. Sitompul. Ambassador Sitompul was accompanied by the Head of the Department for Social and Cultural Information of the Embassy of Indonesia, Suzanne Maria Ayuningtyas, the Personal Secretary of the Ambassador, Muhammad Ali Akbar, and the translator, Tri Retno Kawuri. On behalf of the Ministry, the meeting was also attended by Berisa Mehović, Expert Advisor for the Protection of Cultural and Historical Heritage and Museum Activities, and Anita Vlašić, Advisor to the Minister.
Ambassador Sitompul thanked the Minister for the reception, emphasizing that the primary task of his mission to BiH, which had begun in July this year, would be to promote cultural cooperation and improve relations between the two countries. He also conveyed to the minister the greetings of the Minister of Culture of Indonesia, Fadli Zon.
During the meeting, the possibilities of strengthening bilateral cooperation were discussed, with a special emphasis on the promotion of traditional wood carving, which represented a significant part of the cultural heritage of Konjica, but also of the Indonesian town of Jepara. Both sides expressed their willingness to encourage joint projects, exchange experts and organize exhibitions that would bring this art closer to a wider international circle.
The meeting took place in a friendly atmosphere, with a mutual desire to intensify cooperation in the fields of culture and creative industries.
