Kiseljak in Sarajevo on the Promenade of Culture: Celebrating Tradition, Art and Togetherness

The programme “Kiseljak in Sarajevo” was held last night on the Promenade of Culture as a part of the “Days of European Heritage” manifestation, bringing together artists, cultural workers, students and numerous visitors to celebrate the rich cultural heritage of this region.

The programme was opened with an address by the Mayor of the Municipality of Kiseljak, Mladen Mišurić Ramljak, who pointed out that, although Kiseljak is geographically close to Sarajevo, the two towns do not know each other well. He emphasized that one was often not sufficiently familiar with the traditions, customs and culture of smaller local communities, thanking the Federal Ministry of Culture and Sports for the opportunity to present at least one part of the wealth of culture, customs and traditions of the residents of the Municipality of Kiseljak.

In her address, the Federal Minister of Culture and Sports, Sanja Vlaisavljević, emphasized the importance of preserving local cultural heritage and encouraging creative expression through such events.

“Judging by the number of guests in Kiseljak in Sarajevo, I have no doubt that this will be a memorable event.” – said the minister.

The central part of the programme featured the Cultural and Artistic Society “Izvor 08”, which had been operating since 2008 and had more than 100 members. Their performances, from “The Song about Kiseljak” to the dances from Central Bosnia, delighted the audience and showed the diversity of the folklore tradition that they were carefully nurturing.

A special moment of the evening was the performance by the student Vanna Nikačević, who presented a brief history of Kiseljak, wearing a folk costume, reminding everyone present of the deep roots and cultural value of the region.

Within the event, visitors could view an exhibition of paintings by prominent Kiseljak artists: Ivana Ribičić, Zlatko Dević, Sekula Dugandžić and Zijad Hasić, as well as works by students of the Secondary Art School.

The programme included a rich gastronomic offer, from traditional flatbread from Kiseljak and homemade cakes, to a variety of dishes and drinks. The Pejčinović Family winery attracted special attention with the presentation of its brand – “Pejčinović wine” as an authentic souvenir from Kiseljak.

The musical part of the evening was marked by the tamburitza bend “Brestovsko”, led by Fr. Mirko Majdandžić. The programme was skillfully led by Leona Trogrlić, who, with her warm and cordial approach, connected all participants and provided the audience with an unforgettable cultural experience.

The “Kiseljak, in Sarajevo” event showed that Kiseljak lived through culture, art and a shared spirit. Visitors enjoyed it and look forward to new encounters on the Promenade of Culture.
