Tidža Mekić, Head of the Department for publishing, art, library and archive activities, held a meeting with Jasmin Hasić, the author of the “Two Shores” opera project, on the occasion of the presentation of the artistic project of the opera in the making called “Dvije obale”, by Jasmin Hasić and Ammar Jažić. During the meeting, the willingness to discuss topics of importance for the development of contemporary artistic production in Bosnia and Herzegovina was expressed.
Mr. Hasić presented the idea and concept of the libretto for the opera, explaining how the thematic framework of the opera touches on the universal and powerful theme of forbidden love, processed through contemporary artistic expression. During the conversation, special focus was placed on the need for permanent and systematic production of opera art. It was pointed out that in the past forty years, a very small number of opera works were realized in Bosnia and Herzegovina, which points to the fact that this form of artistic creation is insufficiently represented.
In conclusion, they discussed the possibilities for the Ministry to contribute to the development and realization of this project through open public calls, as well as the broader strengthening of opera production in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
