On the occasion of the International Day of Folklore, which is celebrated on 22 August, we would like to emphasize the importance of preserving folk traditions, customs, music, dances and folk costumes as an important segment of the cultural identity of all peoples and nations.
Folklore, as a link between the past and present, preserves the spirit of the people, brings vivid stories from ancient times and shapes our collective memory. In the era of globalization, preserving folklore has particular importance, because it reminds us of who we are and where we come from.
This day is an opportunity to remember the values that folklore brings and to support the work of cultural and artistic societies, folklore ensembles and all individuals who fight for the preservation of cultural and historical heritage.
We invite all citizens to contribute to the preservation of tradition with their presence, participation or support, whether through folklore performances, workshops, exhibitions or other cultural events that celebrate our heritage.
On 22 August, we are reminded of the importance of preserving the cultural heritage and passing on the tradition to younger generations.
Let us preserve the tradition and cherish the cultural and historical dimension to which we belong!
