In the packed hall of the Federal Ministry of Culture and Sports on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, at 1 p.m., the Institute for the Protection of Monuments promoted the annual journal Naše starine XXVI.
The moderator of the promotion was Dženana Šaran, the expert and responsible editor of the journal, while the promoters of the new issue were Azer Aličić, a member of the editorial board and assistant editor of the Institute, and Mr. Sci. Amra Hadžihasanović, a former employee of the Institute for the Protection of Monuments.
The promotion was attended by a large number of authors, colleagues from other related institutions, guests, and friends of the journal.
At the very beginning, the Federal Minister of Culture and Sports, Sanja Vlaisavljević, addressed the audience, expressing gratitude for their attendance and congratulating the editorial team on a job well done, with wishes that the Institute continues to nurture the journal—especially now that it has achieved the much-desired continuity of publication over three calendar years. This places it among scientific research journals and provides authors with full academic and professional benefits for their published works.
After a brief address by Robert Stergar, Director of the Institute for the Protection of Monuments, the expert editor spoke to the audience, informing them that the editorial board had received a record number of submissions—29 in total—and that after review, 27 papers were selected for publication. She emphasized that the new issue is distinctive both in the number of authors (29) and in the richness of diverse texts, which are the result of scientific research and conservation-restoration work on cultural and historical heritage sites in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
As in the previous two issues, contributions were submitted by colleagues from the Commission to Preserve National Monuments, the National Museum, the Faculty of Philosophy and the Faculty of Architecture in Sarajevo, as well as retired professors. For this issue, works were also submitted by authors from the University of Mostar, the International Burch University, ICOMOS, the Regional Museum of Travnik, as well as retired professors and independent researchers who, despite not being institutionally affiliated, make a significant contribution to documenting, protecting, and preserving cultural and historical heritage.
Due to the quality of the submitted works, the promoters decided to present each of them to the audience. After the detailed presentations, the expert and responsible editor concluded the promotion by expressing her belief that the published works will be a valuable contribution to the field and an incentive for further research.
With words of gratitude for the attendance and time, she emphasized that the full hall is itself proof that Naše starine has its place, its readership, and its future—obliging the editorial team to continue building high editorial and scientific standards.
