INSTITUTE FOR MONUMENTS’ PROTECTION: Report for 26 November 2025

REPORT from field inspection

26 November 2025 Sarači Street No. 117 – Sarajevo

The Institute for the Protection of Monuments within the Federal Ministry of Culture and Sports received a request from the Department of Urban Planning, Spatial Planning, and Environmental Protection of the Municipality of Stari Grad Sarajevo for the extension of the validity of decision No. UP-I-0519-3109/24-IH dated October 14, 2024, which granted approval for the installation of two non-illuminated advertising stickers (horizontal and vertical with inscription) on the portals of the building at Sarači Street No. 117.

Upon review of the submitted documentation and on-site inspection, it was determined that the building in question falls within the scope of the national monument of Bosnia and Herzegovina entitled Historic Urban Landscape of Sarajevo (“Official Gazette of BiH”, Nos. 1/21 and 10/21), to which protection measures apply as defined by the Law on the Implementation of Decisions of the Commission to Preserve National Monuments established under Annex 8 of the General Framework Agreement for Peace in Bosnia and Herzegovina (“Official Gazette of the Federation of BiH”, Nos. 2/02, 8/02, 27/02, 6/04, and 51/07).

After reviewing the submitted file and conducting an on-site inspection, the Institute is of the opinion that the request for extension of the validity of the above-mentioned acts of the Municipality of Stari Grad, regarding the installation of two advertising stickers at the specified location, may be accepted.

This expert opinion relates to the aspect of cultural-historical heritage and is valid until the expiration of the period defined by the Municipality or until the adoption of the Regulation with guidelines for the installation of advertisements in the Historic Urban Landscape of Sarajevo. The investor is obliged to settle all contractual obligations with the competent service of the Municipality of Stari Grad Sarajevo.

The Institute for the Protection of Monuments within the Federal Ministry of Culture and Sports received a request from the Department of Urban Planning, Spatial Planning, and Environmental Protection of the Municipality of Stari Grad Sarajevo for the installation of a horizontal advertising sign and an illuminated projecting sign – pharmacy cross – on the façade of the building at Hamdije Kreševljakovića Street.

Upon review of the submitted documentation and on-site inspection, it was determined that the building in question falls within the scope of the national monument of Bosnia and Herzegovina entitled Historic Urban Landscape of Sarajevo (“Official Gazette of BiH”, Nos. 1/21 and 10/21), to which protection measures apply as defined by the Law on the Implementation of Decisions of the Commission to Preserve National Monuments established under Annex 8 of the General Framework Agreement for Peace in Bosnia and Herzegovina (“Official Gazette of the Federation of BiH”, Nos. 2/02, 8/02, 27/02, 6/04, and 51/07).
