Institute for Monuments’ Protection of: Report on the field visit to Semiz Ali Pasha’s turbet in Prača

The Institute’s expert team traveled to Prača on March 5, 2026, in order to perform expert supervision on the works of the III phase of the reconstruction of Semiz Ali Pasha’s turbet in Prača.

The contractor mechanically removed the existing dilapidated harem wall and paving from the access paths and transported all the rubble to the landfill. He also delivered complete materials – to the construction site for the construction of the harem wall and for paving the access paths. According to the agreement with the stone cutter, the stone was processed and prepared for installation in the workshop. On the spot, the positions of the kerbs and the falls towards which the stone slabs will be placed, machined and manually chipped from the upper side, so that water does not stay on the upper surface of the stone, have been determined.

Work on plastering the interior walls and the dome is also taking place according to the established dynamics. The contractor plastered the dome and walls up to the cornice above the lower windows. The painting was done carefully and meticulously up to the edge of the mukarnas (decoration in the trumpets). The rest of the walls were cleaned by the Contractor of excess older layers of plaster and made all the necessary preparations for plastering.

The above-mentioned works are carried out according to the agreed dynamics.
